Fun Facts about Aw Else Boutique’s Women’s Accessories Brands

File under “Did you know?”

We select the brands we carry at Aw Else Boutique for their style power and overall appeal, but here are some fun facts about a few of our brands that make you them love them even more.

Candles from The Bridgewater Candle Company
In June 2010, The Bridgewater Candle Company began its partnership with Rice BowlsTM, a non-profit with a mission to feed orphaned children around the world.  For every jar candle sold, Bridgewater makes a donation which feeds a child for a day.  Since the program began, the company has provided more than 840,846 days of food to children in India, Honduras, and Nicaragua!

Charms from MOGO
Founder Paige Clark named her MOGO charms company after her childhood pony, which her father gave to her for her ninth birthday.  The idea for the magnetic charms evolved out of a solution she was working on to use magnets instead of Velcro on horse blankets.  The company supports a shelter animal each month, which pays for vet care and socialization for the animal until it’s ready to be adopted.  Also, they adopted the tagline “We Just Click” to honor the connections they make with customers – and those between moms, grandmothers, and others who connect with young girls through MOGOs.  We just love that!

Candles from Votivo

Votivo at the Oscars®!  This year, Votivo was among the brands supporting the Oscar’s Beauty Gala which celebrated “inner and outer” beauty.  Women gathered at the event to promote inner and outer beauty as well as the spirit of giving back.  The event focused on getting out a message of hope and support for women through the Half the Sky Movement, Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.

Designer, Statement Jewelry from John Wind

One of the ways John Wind Maximal Art tries to make a difference is through charitable projects.  Through various special designs he’s created, they've raised money for causes such as AIDS research and kids’ health and welfare.  Their most recent project was with the national Cancer Support Community. Sales of his Tree of Life Necklace raise funds for their cause.  John Wind’s designs have also been featured among Disney collections for adult collectors.  His designs for Disney included vintage Mickey and Little Mermaid bracelets.

Designer, Sparkle Jewelry from Sorrelli
Lisa Oswald, founder, head designer & co-owner of Sorrelli started designing and making each piece in her home.  Her twin sisters joined her enterprise to help her with sales and marketing.  Because they came from a strong Italian heritage, they named the company Sorrelli for the sorrelle, the Italian word for sisters.  Sorrelli jewelry incorporates semi-precious stones and Austrian crystals, and each piece is designed to be a family heirloom.  Because they want for women to pass their jewelry down through the generations, Sorrelli jewelry is backed by a unique lifetime guarantee!
